OroNero: Redefining Luxury Italian Dining

A Cinematographic Approach to Storytelling

OroNero Bar & Ristorante takes inspiration from the Caspian sea and its oil, blending classic Italian luxury with a cultural heritage that is unique to Azerbaijan. Designed by Henry Chebaane, this restaurant transcends fashion and redefines luxury as a feel-good experience. With its theatrical and luxurious ambiance, OroNero offers a dining experience that is both visually stunning and intimate.

The concept of OroNero is a fusion of Italian fine dining and the energy of the Milanese luxury industries, all reimagined in the context of the Caspian sea. The contrast of black and gold, light and shadow, creates a captivating atmosphere that pays homage to the region's oil fields. The design aims to intertwine Italian and Azerbaijani cultures, posing questions about the essence of luxury and the meaning of "Black Gold."

OroNero is not just about aesthetics; it is about creating a restaurant and bar that not only looks impressive but also functions seamlessly. The 350 SqM space features a bar, show kitchen, private dining room, external terrace, and can accommodate up to 120 people. The design approach encompasses every aspect, from interior design and graphic design to lighting, art installations, and even uniforms.

The design process for OroNero involved extensive research in Milan, Treviso, and Modena, exploring the creative spirit of Italian luxury. Visits to fashion houses, art galleries, vineyards, and olive oil producers provided inspiration and insights into the culture and craftsmanship behind Italian excellence. The project took six months to design from London and Rome, following two months of research.

One of the main challenges faced by the design team was to create a concept that exudes luxury and glamour while still being inviting and intimate. OroNero achieves this by incorporating humor and imagination into its design, ensuring that customers are entertained rather than intimidated. The result is a restaurant and bar that not only looks like a high-fashion private jet but also stimulates the senses and sparks the imagination.

OroNero's unique approach to luxury Italian dining has garnered recognition and accolades. In 2017, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Luxury Design category. This prestigious award celebrates designs that showcase creativity, resourcefulness, and technical excellence, contributing to an improved quality of life.
